The Biling solar pond filter is a compact and affordable solution for smaller garden ponds, mini-ponds, fountains, birdbaths, and outdoor water features. It combines filtration, water circulation, and a decorative fountain in one device without the need for a mains connection.
A 6.5W solar panel powers the pump with a maximum flow rate of up to 300 l/h. The integrated 3000 mAh battery stores a portion of the energy captured to help maintain more stable operation during transient cloud cover throughout the day. Eight water effect variants and the included hose allow you to create a fountain, a gentle spray, or a small water feature.
Compact filter for small ponds and fountains
Thanks to the small dimensions of the filter box, the model is especially suitable where a standard pond filter would be unnecessarily large. It is ideal for smaller preformed ponds, balcony and terrace basins, birdbaths, or garden fountains.
The filter box helps capture coarse impurities before water enters the pump. At the same time, the porous filter media provides a surface for the natural colonization of microorganisms. Water movement reduces the formation of stagnant areas and promotes gas exchange at the water surface.
This is a compact auxiliary filtration system. It does not replace a properly dimensioned main filtration system for heavily polluted ponds or tanks with a large number of fish.

Solar operation with battery support
The panel converts solar radiation into the energy required for pump operation. The built-in battery stores some energy and helps bridge transient cloud cover or short-term fluctuations in sunlight intensity.
The manufacturer specifies auxiliary operation on stored energy for up to approximately 2–3 hours. The actual time depends on the battery charge level, the intensity of previous sunlight, the selected nozzle, pump head, and filter cleanliness.
The battery is primarily intended to stabilize operation during the day. After sunset, the device turns off automatically and is not intended for nighttime operation.
Before first use or after long-term storage, we recommend letting the panel charge in direct sunlight for approximately 4–6 hours.
Flow rate up to 300 liters per hour
Under optimal conditions, the submersible pump achieves a maximum flow of up to 300 l/h. The flow helps keep the water moving, reduces stagnation, and ensures water passes through the filter box.
Actual performance may be lower depending on:
- sunlight intensity,
- battery charge level,
- clogging of the filter or nozzle,
- selected water effect,
- hose length and elevation,
- orientation and cleanliness of the solar panel.
Eight water effects or hose connection
A set of interchangeable attachments allows you to create eight different water stream patterns – from a narrow jet to a wider decorative spray. The height and shape of the stream can be adjusted by selecting the appropriate combination of attachments.
Instead of the fountain nozzle, you can connect the transparent hose to the pump to divert water to a small waterfall, cascade, or other garden water feature.
The fountain nozzle and hose represent two alternative ways of use and cannot be used simultaneously.
Proper depth and filter placement
For proper operation, place the filter box horizontally on a firm bottom and submerge it completely under the water surface. Assemble the fountain nozzle using the extension parts so that its head remains above water – ideally about 2–4 cm above the highest expected water level.
The recommended water depth at the box location is 7–12 cm; the minimum depth is 7 cm. When using all extension parts, approximately 13–14 cm can be considered an indicative upper limit, though specific possibilities depend on the chosen nozzle type and water level fluctuations.
In a deeper pond, place the filter box on a stable, waterproof platform so that it remains fully submerged while the nozzle head is safely above the surface. Do not hang the box by the cable or the tube. Always keep the solar panel and electrical connectors in a dry place, away from the water.
Dry-run protection
A water sensor detects low water levels and helps protect the pump from dry running. A blue indicator light signals that the power is on. A red indicator light may warn of a low water level or insufficient sunlight.
The protection serves as a safeguard. The filter box with the pump must remain sufficiently submerged during normal operation.
For what water features is the filter suitable?
The manufacturer specifies use for water features with a volume of approximately 100–600 liters. It is best suited for:
- ornamental mini-ponds,
- smaller garden ponds,
- small tanks with aquatic plants,
- garden and tabletop fountains,
- birdbaths,
- smaller outdoor fish tanks,
- small waterfalls and cascades,
- balcony and terrace water features.
The upper limit of the range is suitable primarily for lightly loaded decorative tanks. For ponds with fish, a larger amount of organic waste, or frequent algae growth, we recommend choosing the lower end of the range, performing more frequent maintenance, or using a more powerful filter.
Simple installation
- Check the filter media and ensure the pump is seated correctly in the filter box.
- Securely close the filter box lid.
- Assemble the chosen fountain nozzle or connect the hose.
- Place the filter box into the water. The minimum recommended depth is 7 cm.
- Verify that the pump is submerged and the fountain nozzle outlet remains above the water surface.
- Place the solar panel in a stable, unshaded location.
- In the Czech Republic, ideally orient the panel towards the south at an angle of approximately 15–30°.
- Connect the pump to the solar panel and keep the connector dry.
- In a deeper tank, the filter can be stably placed on a flat stone, pedestal, or underwater shelf so that the nozzle reaches above the surface.
Cleaning and maintenance
To maintain flow, we recommend checking the following at least once a week:
- filter box inlet openings,
- filter media,
- pump filter sponge,
- pump inlet and impeller,
- obstructions in the selected nozzle or hose.
Clean nozzle openings as needed, usually once every 2–4 weeks. Wipe the surface of the solar panel approximately once a month with a soft, damp cloth.
Before winter, remove the device from the water, clean thoroughly, dry, and store in a dry, frost-free location.
